Online signature maker: create your signature and download it

Draw with a mouse, finger or stylus inside the box.

How do I make a signature with the online signature maker?

To make an online signature for free, choose Draw, Type or Upload, create it in the box, then press Download signature. You get a transparent PNG by default, trimmed to the signature. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is watermarked, and you do not need an account.

  1. Pick a method with the tabs above the box.
  2. Choose an ink color. Black or dark blue look natural on documents.
  3. Check the preview. Use Undo, Redo or Clear while drawing.
  4. Choose a format and resolution, then press Download signature. Copy image puts a PNG on your clipboard where your browser allows it.

Sign a little bigger than feels natural: a larger signature keeps its detail when scaled down on a form.

Draw signature online, type or upload: which method is best?

Draw looks most like your real handwriting, type is fastest and tidiest, and upload is best when you already have a signature on paper. Drawing on a touchscreen or with a stylus gives the best result. A mouse works but usually looks stiffer.

Choosing a method

Upload photoReusing your real ink signatureNeeds a dark pen on plain white paper and even light.

For an upload, use the ink sensitivity slider until thin strokes stay solid and the paper turns fully transparent. A scan usually works better than a phone photo with shadows.

Draw or upload and it acts as a handwritten signature generator; type and you get a clean handwriting-style font.

Signature generator transparent PNG: how to get one

Keep the download format on "PNG, transparent background" and the signature is saved with no background at all. The checkerboard behind the box is only a preview. Choose the white-background PNG or JPG only when a system rejects transparency.

A transparent PNG lets the signature sit on top of a document line without a white box around it. With cropping on, the file is trimmed to the ink plus a small margin, so it is easy to place and resize.

Which format to pick
FormatBackgroundUse it for
PNGTransparentWord, Google Docs, PDF editors, email signatures
PNG, whiteWhiteUpload forms that show transparency as black
JPGWhiteSmall files for older systems
SVGTransparentScaling to any size. Drawn and typed signatures stay vector, while an uploaded photo is embedded as an image.

If the file is larger than a form allows, the PNG compressor can shrink it without changing how it looks.

How to add your signature to a PDF or Word document

In Word, use Insert, then Pictures, and choose your signature PNG; in a PDF, use a Fill and Sign or Add image tool. Set the picture to sit in front of the text so you can drag it onto the signature line, then resize it from a corner.

  • Microsoft Word: Insert, Pictures, This Device, then pick the PNG. Under Picture Format, set Wrap Text to In Front of Text, then drag it onto the line.
  • Google Docs: Insert, Image, Upload from computer. Choose In front of text in the image options.
  • PDF: Adobe Acrobat Reader's Fill and Sign tool can add a signature from an image file. Many other PDF editors have an add image or stamp option.
  • Email: add the PNG in your mail app's signature editor and keep it small, around 150 to 250 pixels wide.

Keep the original file so you can reuse it.

Is my signature stored anywhere?

No. Your signature is drawn, typed or processed in your browser and is never uploaded, saved or logged by this page. Photos stay on your device too. Refreshing the page or pressing Clear removes the signature, so download it first if you want to keep it.

This tool makes no network requests with your signature and keeps nothing in browser storage. The only copy is the file you download. Anyone with a copy of the image could paste it into a document, so treat it like a sensitive file.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a digital signature maker free to use?

Open the tool above, draw or type your signature and download it as a PNG. This creates an electronic signature image, not a certificate-based digital signature. It is free, has no watermark and needs no account.

How do I add a signature to a PDF?

Download the signature as a PNG, then add it with a PDF tool that supports images, such as the Fill and Sign tool in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Drag the image onto the signature line and resize it from a corner.

Is an electronic signature legally binding?

Often yes, if the signer intended to sign and the record is kept. The US ESIGN Act and the EU eIDAS Regulation recognize electronic signatures, but some documents need other formalities. Check with the recipient or a lawyer for important contracts.

Is this an electronic signature maker?

Yes. It creates an electronic signature image, a drawn, typed or uploaded mark you can place on a document. It is not a certificate-based digital signature, which uses cryptography to prove who signed and that the file was not changed.

How do I create signature online without installing software?

Open this page, then draw, type or upload your signature and press Download signature. Everything runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install and no account to make. Your signature is not uploaded or saved anywhere.

Can I turn a photo of my signature into a digital one?

Yes. Use the Upload photo tab with a dark pen signature on plain white paper in even light. The tool makes the paper transparent and recolors the ink. Adjust the sensitivity slider until thin strokes look solid.

How do I make a signature look professional?

Sign slowly and slightly larger than usual, use black or dark blue ink, and keep trimming on. Draw with a finger or stylus if you can, and use Undo if a stroke looks shaky.

Why do the typed styles look different on another computer?

The typed styles use handwriting fonts installed on your device, and the tool loads none from the internet. If you need an identical look everywhere, download the PNG, which has the style baked in.
