Cursive text generator: make fancy cursive text

Try:

Tap Copy next to a style, then paste it anywhere. Some apps and fonts may not show every symbol, and screen readers may read styled text poorly.

What is a cursive text generator?

A cursive text generator converts the words you type into Unicode characters shaped like handwritten script, so you can paste cursive-looking text where you cannot pick a font. It is not a real font. Each letter is replaced by a separate script character, which is why it copies and pastes as plain text.

Searches for a "cursive font generator" and a cursive text generator usually mean the same thing: a quick way to get flowing letters into a bio or caption. The difference is that a genuine font has to be installed or set in a design program, while these characters live inside Unicode and travel with the text.

The first row is bold script, which reads best on small phone screens. Regular script comes second and is lighter and more delicate. Both come from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, plus a few letters borrowed from the Letterlike Symbols block where script capitals were assigned separately.

Which cursive style should I choose from this script text generator?

Choose bold script for the clearest cursive on phones, regular script for a lighter handwritten feel, and fraktur or bold fraktur for an old English, gothic look that is often confused with cursive. Bold italic is a good fallback when script letters show up as boxes.

    Cursive-style options in this tool
    StyleFeelNote
Bold scriptThick, flowing, readableGood default for bios and captions
ScriptThin, elegantCan look faint at small sizes
Bold frakturGothic, formalDense, best for short words
FrakturGothic, lighterSome capitals come from a different Unicode block
Bold italicSlanted, not truly cursiveMost widely supported fallback

For plain slanted lettering without the curls, see the italic text generator.

How do cursive letters copy and paste into other apps?

Type your words, tap Copy beside the cursive row you like, then paste it into your app. The list updates as you type, so there is no generate button. Everything stays in your browser, and the box starts with Hello world so you can compare every style before you write your own text.

Use the example chips to see how names and short phrases look, or clear the box and type your own. If you want your sentence capitalized in a certain way, fix it before styling, because the cursive characters cannot be re-cased afterward. The title case converter handles headings and names quickly.

Short names and signatures work best. A whole paragraph of script is tiring to read and is hard for screen readers to announce.

Why do some cursive letters look wrong or show boxes?

Script characters live in a part of Unicode that not every device font covers, so a missing glyph can appear as an empty box or a plain fallback letter. Newer phones and computers usually show them, but older ones may not. Test in a draft, and switch to bold italic if you need wider support.

Another quirk: Unicode reuses a few letters from an older block, such as the script capital B or the script lowercase e. This tool maps them correctly, so a word may be assembled from characters that are drawn by slightly different fonts and sit at uneven heights on some systems.

These characters also are not designed for ordinary text. The Unicode standard says they are meant for mathematical notation, and screen readers may read them as "mathematical script capital H" rather than as a word. Use them for decoration and keep key details in plain text.

What is cursive text good for?

Cursive text suits short, expressive pieces such as names, greetings, bio lines, captions, wedding or birthday messages and sign-offs. It adds a handwritten touch where fonts cannot be changed. Avoid it for long passages, links, addresses and anything someone must read exactly.

Pair a cursive name with a plain sentence, or open a caption with one cursive word. If you want a small, quiet accent instead, tiny text is gentler, and a corrupted look is available from the glitch text generator.

    Frequently asked questions

Is this a handwriting font generator?

Not exactly. It converts your words into handwriting-style Unicode characters, so no font file is created or installed. To make a font from your own handwriting you need a dedicated font-making tool instead.

Is this a real cursive font?

No. It is a set of Unicode script characters that look like cursive. You paste them as text, with no font installed. A true cursive font changes how normal letters are drawn, which these characters do not.

How is a cursive font generator different from a cursive text generator?

In practice, they are the same thing online. Both convert typed text into script-style characters. The word font is used loosely, because nothing is installed and the look depends on the fonts already on the viewer's device.

Can I use cursive text on Instagram or TikTok?

You can paste it wherever a text field accepts Unicode, such as many bios, captions and comments. Apps decide what to show and can change that, so test it in a draft before you rely on it.

Why do script capitals look different from lowercase?

Several script capitals and two lowercase letters were encoded earlier in a different Unicode block, and fonts draw them separately. They can look a little different in weight or height, especially on older systems.

Does cursive text work with numbers?

Bold script includes bold digits and the other rows keep your digits as typed or restyle them where Unicode provides a set. Punctuation stays as typed in every row, so spaces and commas look normal.

Is cursive text accessible to screen readers?

Poorly. Screen readers may read each symbol by its long Unicode name or skip it. Keep essential information in plain letters, and use cursive for a name, a greeting or a decoration only.

Does the tool upload my text?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser, nothing is sent over the network, and there is no sign-up. Reloading the page resets the box to Hello world, so nothing you typed is kept. There is also no account, no history and no saved list of your text.
